Journaling

Scripture Journaling Using The SOAP Method

Some ladies have come to me with questions about journaling, such as how to get started and how to keep it going. In my research, I came across scripture journaling, and I knew this would be a great place to start. Basically, scripture journaling includes writing a bible verse every day in addition to whatever you hear God saying to you through that verse. SOAP stands

SOAP stands for Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer.

Scripture: Write the bible verse.

Observation: What is the verse saying to you? What do you see as you are reading the verse? Who is the verse speaking to? What is it talking about? Do any words stick out to you?

Application: How can you apply what you read to your own personal life? What changes do you need to make? What do you need to do to in an effort to live out this verse?

Prayer: Ask God to help you live out this verse in your everyday life.

To get started all you need is a notebook or journal and a pen. I suggest you get a pretty journal and your favorite color pen. Then you just include each section of the SOAP method listed above.

Or, you can click here and get a free printable copy that has the sections created for you.

Better yet, I created a personal bible study journal so that you can keep all of your scriptures together for easy reference.

Also, feel free to join my online community so that we can learn and grow together.

Tomorrow I will begin using this method to write a daily devotional on my blog, and I encourage you to join me on this journey. I am sure it will be a life changing experience as we grow in God’s Word every day together!
